Celebrating Excellence: Honouring the 2024 Scholars of Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School
Recently, Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School proudly hosted its annual Scholars’ Assembly. This special event is dedicated to acknowledging and celebrating the exceptional academic achievements of our 2024 Graduates.
In 2024, Head Girls Carter Gregory and Zoe Chitabwa ignited a powerful movement with the school theme, “Hear Me Roar in 2024.” More than just a motto, it became a rallying cry—inspiring students to stand tall, embrace courage, and boldly pursue their own extraordinary potential.
The 2024 Year 12 cohort heeded this call – with all students achieving personal success, whether it was passing a very demanding subject, attaining an ATAR above expectations, or completing the QCE or VET qualifications. We are proud that all 2024 graduates achieved the Queensland Certificate of Education, 38% also gained VET qualifications, including 18 students who graduated with a Diploma of Business.
Of the 85% of Year 12 students eligible to receive an ATAR last year, 87% of our students achieved in top 20% of the state, almost 40% achieved in the top 10% of the state. Additionally, one-fifth of the Year 12 cohort achieved in the top 5% of the state. Each of these Scholars have shown grit, determination and consistent effort to attain academic excellence and the highest level of achievement. To be recognised as an IGGS Scholar a student must attain an ATAR at or above 95.
The ceremony acknowledged the outstanding academic performance of the 2024 Scholars, with our three School Captains for Academics – Grace Doyle, Millie Daintith, and Lillian Fox – presenting the 2024 Scholars alongside Chair of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Phillip Bell, and Deputy Principal, Mrs. Wendy Jurss.
