Class Of 2019 QTAC Achievements

In addition to our impressive OP results, the 2019 Seniors are congratulated for continuing Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School’s 127-year history of developing confident well-educated young women following the release of tertiary offers this week.

Following on from the release of the pleasing OP results in December, I write to inform you about the 2019 Seniors’ tertiary offers that were released on Wednesday.

Every student (100%) applied to study at a tertiary institution and every domestic student has received an offer. Ninety-seven percent (97%) received an offer from a university and three percent (3%) received an offer from TAFE Queensland. The School is waiting for information from its overseas students regarding their tertiary offers.

Eighty-six percent (86%) of students received their first preference tertiary course and 92% received either their first or second preference. Furthermore, every student (100%) received a Queensland Certificate of Education.

The students’ most popular fields of tertiary education were: Society and Culture – Law, Economics, Psychology (28%); Natural and Physical Sciences – Mathematics, Physics, etc (17%); Health – Pharmacy, Veterinary Science, Speech Pathology, etc (17%); and, Creative Arts – Music, Graphic Design, Communication and Media Studies (11%).

Most offers came from the Queensland University of Technology (37%) followed by the University of Queensland (26%), Griffith University (23%) and the University of Southern Queensland (9%).

Our School has an enviable record regarding students’ tertiary offers. All staff endeavour to create learning environments in which students are known, feel safe and have a sense of belonging. These features and high standards enable our students to strive for their personal bests in all aspects of their education and achieve academically. Thank you to the parents and guardians for your ongoing support and advocacy for our great school.

The School congratulates its 2019 Seniors and wishes them happiness and success as they embark on the next exciting phase of their lives beyond the school gates as confident, well-educated young women.
