Old Girls Scholarships
Lylie Argus Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of IGGS Old Girl Mrs Lylie Argus and her significant contribution to the School, the Lylie Argus Memorial Scholarship is offered to one new student entering Year 11 each year, who would not otherwise be able to attend Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School.
It is preferable, but not compulsory, for applicants to be related to former IGGS students.
Mrs Lylie Argus enrolled at Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School in 1924. She supported the School as an active member of the Old Girls’ Association, assuming many roles, including President, over a period of more than 70 years.
The Scholarship is a meaningful expression of the School’s appreciation for all that Mrs Argus contributed to IGGS during her lifetime.
The Scholarship has been established in acknowledgment of significant donations to the School from the Argus family and represents 50% remission of tuition fees.
